January 2026

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to an exciting 2026. As we begin the new year, I want to share a few important updates and express our heartfelt appreciation for all that our members do for the club. Your dedication truly makes a difference, and we are grateful to each of you for helping build such a welcoming community.

Volunteer Opportunity

We are currently seeking a volunteer to serve as secretary on our board. Serving in this role is a wonderful way to make a meaningful impact, and we believe anyone can make a difference. If you are interested or have questions, please let us know—we would love to see more members involved.

Upcoming Elections

Club board elections will be held in the next few months. Please look out for additional information as we get closer to election time and feel free to share any feedback or suggestions regarding the future direction of the club.

Monthly Workdays

Thank you to everyone who regularly participates in our monthly workdays, which take place on the first Friday of each month at 8:00 am at the pistol rifle range. Special thanks to those who helped with our last event—your hard work allowed us to complete the range cleanup ahead of schedule and keep our dues low. We truly appreciate everyone who has volunteered their time, and we warmly welcome even more members to join us at future workdays.

Safety Reminder

Please always uncock manual clay throwers after use to ensure everyone’s safety.

We’re grateful for your dedication and continued support. Your involvement means a lot to us, and together we are able to maintain the club as a great place for everyone. We look forward to seeing everyone at upcoming events! If you would like to volunteer, have questions, or want to share suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you all the best in 2026.

May 2025

Greetings, Members!

We’ve had a busy and productive spring at the club. Here are the latest updates:

Election Results

In the April elections, Joe Hinkle was re-elected as Vice-President. Congratulations to Joe, and thank you for your continued service and leadership.

Changes in Club Positions

We’d like to thank Dwight Jesseman for his time and dedication as Membership Secretary. Dwight is stepping down from that role, but we’re pleased to share that he will continue serving the club as Sergeant-at-Arms and Webmaster.

Stepping into the role of Membership Secretary is Dale Young. Welcome aboard, Dale!

Clays Range Update

The Clays range has been officially moved to the field west of the rifle range. The covered shooting structure will also be relocated there in the near future to improve convenience and comfort to our shooters.

Rifle Range Gate Procedure

The board has approved a new procedure regarding the rifle range gate during matches. Going forward, the gate may remain open during matches. The responsibility for securing the gate at the conclusion of the match will fall to the Match Director.

Thank you to all our members for your continued support. As always, stay safe and shoot straight!

December 2024

9mm in 40cal Pistols

Mike Yawn discovered that some 9mm ammo had been fired in a 40cal pistol.  This practice is dangerous because it can cause ricochets and lead to brass breaking off in the barrel, both of which can result in serious safety hazards.  Please be cautious and avoid using the wrong caliber ammo.

Rifle Range Shed

We have placed an order for the new replacement shed on the rifle range and construction will begin shortly.  We are looking forward to the improvements and enhanced functionality it will bring.

Membership Secretary

Dwight Jesseman’s temporary tenure as Membership Secretary will soon be ending (thanks Dwight) and we will be seeking a volunteer to take over the role.  Dwight will continue to be webmaster and provide technical support. If you are interested in contributing to the club, please contact the Board of Directors.

Holidays and Looking Forward

The Board of Directors of the Fort White Gun Club would like to wish all of our members a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  We look forward to another year of safety, camaraderie and continuous improvement.  Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you on the range in the new year.

Website Update

We’re excited to announce that our website has been successfully updated and is now hosted on a new server. A big thank you to Dwight Jessman for his invaluable assistance in this transition. Our website will now be your go-to source for future newsletters, board meeting minutes and other important updates. You can access the board meeting minutes by using your current gate code as the password.

Membership Renewal

We’re making membership renewal more convenient than ever! Soon, you’ll be able to renew your membership online through our updated website. Keep an eye out for more details on how to easily complete your renewal process from the comfort of your home.

Lifetime Membership Awards

In recognition of their outstanding dedication and many years of service, we are happy to award lifetime memberships to four distinguished members: Pat McAlhany, Ted Batton, Kenny Long and Ken Desert. Their contributions have been invaluable to the Fort White Gun Club, and this lifetime membership is a token of our appreciation for their long service.

Stay safe and enjoy your time on the range!

August 2024

Greetings Fort White Gun Club Members. We hope this message finds you well and enjoying the summer months. We have some exciting updates to share with you about recent improvements and changes within our club.

Electronic Newsletter

In our efforts to keep you better informed and provide more timely updates, we are creating a newsletter on a more regular basis. Future newsletters will be by email and eventually transitioning to our website.

New Camera System

To further enhance safety and security, we are installing a new camera system around the club premises. This system will help us monitor the ranges and facilities more effectively ensuring a safe environment for all members and allow us to review and address any concerns promptly.

Rifle/Pistol Range

As you may have noticed, the shed next to the rifle range has been dismantled and removed. There will soon be a replacement building to store our tools and equipment. Target cardboards are located in the Rubbermaid storage container near the benches.

New Board Members

After many years of service to the club, Pat McAlhany and Ted Batton have decided to retire their positions on the board. We are pleased to announce Carrie Morgan as our new treasurer. We are confident that her expertise will greatly benefit our club.

We are also pleased to announce that Mike Yawn has joined the board as Range Maintenance Officer. We are sure that Mikes experience will contribute to the upkeep and enhancement of our range.
